TRIO for Violin, Violoncello and Piano (2004) (14 minutes), DSE537 Both this work and the SONATA No 2 (DSE536) signal that the composer was heading in a new stylistic direction. The works are lyrically romantic, intensely personal and alive with virtuosic high-energy and flair.

FANTASIA for Clarinet and Piano based on G. Verdi's opera "Rigoletto" -- F. Pontillo, transcribed by Donald Martino from an 1899 band manuscript, DSE905 With this brilliant and lyric FANTASIA, Dantalian issues this fourth and final adaptation (2003).

 

COMPOSITION AWARD

In honor of Donald Martino, an annual award will be given to a composition student at the New England Conservatory, where Mr. Martino was chairman of the Composition department from 1969 - 1980.  Memorial donations to fund this award may be sent to:
